The story behind

In Belgium, Gouy-Lez-Piéton, very close to the French border is the beautiful breeding farm Ste Hermelle. Founded by Raymond Lefevre thirty years ago.

Raymond Lefevre’s foundation for breeding is French blood, there are two reasons for this. He explains: “The first reason is that I live very close to the French border and also that my young horses are doing competitions in France. So for me it was more interesting to breed with French mares. I started with the 1984 born mare Sabina (Brilloso – Corina I x Rantzau xx, bred by Xavier Ribard). I really like the combination Furioso x Rantzau xx. Sabina is the grandmother of the sBs bred mare Naltysse De Ste Hermelle (Billy du Lys – Kalytisse De Ste Hermelle x Atilas d’Autan, bred by Elevage De Ste Hermelle). Lefevre continues: “The French horses are known for their top character. They are easy to ride and they have blood. I also use now bloodlines from other studbooks, like for example Holsteiner bloodlines, because now all the lines are European.”

Performers all around

The horses are registered Selle Français and sBs. From those breedings are coming top jumping horses from which the famous Citizenguard Toscan de Sainte Hermelle (Surcouf de Revel – Gzara de Sainte Hermelle x Bayac de Sainte Hermelle), winner of the Nations Cup of Rome and many times ranked in the Global Champions Tour with his rider Contant Van Paesschen. We also notice Chance Ste Hermelle (Calvaro Z – Nancy x Hemmingway) performing until 1.60m under the saddle of Michael Morrissey.

Anaya Ste Hermelle (Andiamo – Gazelle Bleus x Paladin des Ifs) is getting better and better results under the saddle of Pedro Veniss and is currently performing at 1.50m level. Ujade Ste Hermelle (Diamant de Semilly – Gazelle Bleus x Paladin des Ifs) is performing until 1.50m under the saddle of Karina Aziz and has been winning 1.60m in the US.

We can mention many performers in 1.45m, from which Bingo Ste Hermelle (Number One d’Iso Un Prince – Ujade Ste Hermelle x Diamant de Semilly) under the saddle of Martin Alejandro Jimenez Valdvia, Analtyse Ste Hermelle (Ogano Sitte – Naltysse de Sainte Hermelle x Billy du Lys) under the saddle of Fabio Leivas da Costa and Panys de Ste Hermelle (Surcouf de Revel – Naltysse de Sainte Hermelle x Billy du Lys) under the saddle of Gaetano Cipullo.

 

The line of Naltysse is very good in conformation and in sport.

 

Also the approved stallion Vargas Ste Hermelle (Ogano Sitte – Naltysse de Sainte-Hermelle x Billy du Lys) jumped at 1m45 under the saddle of Pedro Veniss. Lefevre says: “The line of Naltysse is very good in conformation and in sport.” This is supported by the fact that Naltysse de Sainte Hermelle has four approved sons: Babylis de Sainte Hermelle (Flamenco de Semilly), Panys de Ste Hermelle (Surcouf de Revel), Quaduc Ste Hermelle (Duc de la Lande II) and Vargas Ste-Hermelle. Plus nine out of eleven offspring have sportresults from 1m35 and higher. We must also talk about Eras Ste Hermelle: he’s the stallion of the future!  Eras has a beautiful model but is also very demonstrative in 1.50m classes. He’s gonna start the 3* shows and his young production is already pretty exceptional.

Anaya Ste Hermelle, the rising star

Pedro Veniss about his upcoming superstar mare Anaya Ste Hermelle: “She is a very special mare, I bought half of her when she was seven year old. The other half is still of the breeder. She is a fantastic sporthorse. She won already 29 classes and had many second places. We lost some time in sport as she was very scared of traveling on the truck and we found a solution by letting her travel on a two horse truck without another horse. The breeder has four offspring out of her and next year I am planning to use Quabri de L’Isle for her.” Anaya Ste Hermelle comes from the mare Gazelle Bleus (Paladin des Ifs – Cacahuette Amaury – Quidam de Revel, bred by Jean-Pierre Maze) who is also represented at Ste Hermelle by several daughters. Also Anaya Ste Hermelle is mother to two approved stallions: Eras Ste Hermelle (Vargas de Ste Hermelle) and Django Ste Hermelle (Upercut Kervec).

• Periclès de Sainte Hermelle (Glaneur par Grannus), mother of Cariclès Ste Hermelle especially, 5th of the 5yo French Championship!
• Phylisse Ste Hermelle, mother of Veneur Ste Hermelle especially, performing in international showjumping in the US
• Naltysse de Ste Hermelle who ranked 10^th place at the top 100 best Selle Français mares!
